Masterfully directed

Also others than those directly involved were impressed by the cooperation and practical efficiency that was demonstrated during the salvage of a mobile crane that had overturned in Hordaland. According to a newspaper article  in Hordaland, the leader of the fishing team in Granby, Sven-Helge Pedersen was very impressed by the operation.

The road failed

The road was very narrow, with weak shoulders and the mobile crane tipped off the road in Granby river, which is a protected river. It was exciting for both local and regional authorities as well as private if there would be pollution from oil spills or other damage.

Impressive efficiency

-I was on site much of the night and could follow the results of the salvage, says Sven-Helge Pedersen. He said further that he was impressed by the coordination and efficiency that the crew showed.

-It all seemed very professional and efficient. The crew obviously knew what needed to be done and there was good information about the location of the operation and the safety measures that were present, in case anything unforeseen should happen.

Arrogant agency

The leader of the fishing team in Granby, however, was quite irritated and far from impressed by the Statens Vegvesen (Norwegian Public Roads Administration).

-I have called and written letters to many in the system and at the County to get clarification of why the crane was not removed before a week had passed. I think it is terrible that the agency did not even bother to respond to inquiries or proposals for solutions. No written replies at all.

7 minute lift

Vest Kran used two mobile cranes in tandem to turn and lift the 48 tons heavy casualty. It took only seven minutes from the time the straps were attached and the wrecked crane was on the road again.

Accurate planning

Trond Emblem directed the operation himself and explains the success of the job by that most jobs are "completed" in advance through careful planning and use of the most suitable equipment and people for such jobs.

Safety First

-Since we had to shut down the narrow road and had at most over 20 people involved including fire department, excavator, trucks, crane trucks, trailers and mobile cranes, we were forced to coordinate the work properly to carry out the operation quickly and safely.

Perfect execution

The people and the equipment worked superbly in collaboration and the next morning when the road opened, everything was removed and there was no trace left. Just as planned. Actually, a normal procedure, the only thing regrettable is that it was our own crane we had to lift up, concludes Emblem.
