In the trial after the Vest Tank accident the owner Emblem Holding was sentenced to pay Trafigura / Alexela about 154 million in claims. The company could not meet the requirements and was declared bankrupt. Emblem Holding AS also owned companies Emblem Eiendom AS, Vest Kran Wind Power AS og Vestkran kranutleie og byggmontering AS. Trond Emblem owned 100% of the shares of Emblem Holding AS.
Kim Emblem formed the company Westkran AS. There was a need to safeguard the values of Vestkran Kranutleie og Byggmontering through the addition of fresh capital, and in March 2011 Westkran contributed this capital. Westkran became thus a 71.6% shareholder in Vest Kran Kranutleie og Byggmontering. The capital injection was instrumental in the Vestkran Kranutleie og byggmonterings factoringselskap reopened the liquidity supply, which for a period had been closed.
Westkran owns also 100% of Vest Kran AB in Sweden and 80% of Vest Kran Turkey which is established together with a Turkish business contact. Westkran is working to obtain contracts and contracts for companies that have interests in. This is an agreement between Westkran and Vestkran Kranutleie og Byggmontering that assures liquidity to Vestkran Kranutleie og Byggmontering through Westkrans income, so that the group's value also benefits Vestkran Kranutleie og Byggmontering and its creditors.
